My journnal December 22 2012 afternoon, the saga continues
Still here - we spent the morning huddled around the little propane heater in my office area, and trying to get any news we could from the little crank powered radio.
As I venture outside first thing I notice is trucks! Trucks as far as the eye can see, I live right along the Can-Am highway about 1500 yards from a truck stop. Most of them must be lined up for fuel which of course the truck stop can’t dispense until the power comes back. Across the street i observe a large group of drivers huddling around fires in oil drums…I wander over and join them.
The atmosphere in this group is one of horror and panic. Some had been keeping in contact using the old CB radios that many had abandoned for the newer sat phone and cell phone technologies. All the sat based communications apparently stopped working shortly after midnight when the axis of the earth shifted placing the satellites in the wrong positions. The old guys who had kept their CB’s are the stars right now regaling the crowd with horror stories. I wander the crowd drinking in all the information I can, just listening like a fly on the wall.
One terrifying story comes from a trucker who was in radio contact with an old friend who was going up the grapevine on I-5 right around midnight. His friend was giving a play by play as the ground started to move, he looked out his rearview and watched as the LA basin rumbled and filled with the ocean. Then he could be heard saying $&%^^% and nothing more, presumably that driver also had the ground torn out form under him. The biggest thing that I heard was worry and concern about family and loved ones at home. No one could reach home using any telephone technology and that was a big concern for most of the drivers as they tried to stay warm. Stories from the drivers who came in from the west continue a litany of horrifying events, Many saw the High Tension power lines falling in brilliant displays of sparks as the supporting poles crumbled to the ground. That is both good and bad news, it means our lack of power is most likely from the power grid becoming unbalanced and automatically shutting off connections.
It is bitter cold today and the sun is being blocked by all the stuff in the air, something is falling from the sky, it looks like snow, but upon closer inspection it looks more like ash. I wonder if there has been a major volcanic eruption ? Hopefully not Yellowstone, last time that erupted our area was covered with 30 feet of volcanic ash But that was something like 630.000 years ago. If it was Yellowstone, we would already have been buried, so this must be someplace or something else.
I venture out into town, since we are in a stable area, despite all the noise and rumblings I see very little damage. A few cracked windows downtown but no major damage. There are a lot of people wandering around as if in shock if only they had read my writings they would have been prepared. There are a lot of people milling around in the parking lot at the grocery store, because of the power loss they have no way to ring up purchases so they are keeping the doors locked for now. I hear some alarms going off probably from the shaking.
There is a whirr and hum and a collective hooray to be heard as lights begin to come on. This means we are now out of the stone ages and back to 1950’s tech wise. The power company must have disconnected from the grid and brought our area power plants back to life. I rush home to see what we can discover now that we have electricity.
The cable TV is sort of back, only local stations are found as there is still no way to track the satellites. All network programming is gone, of course all the networks seemed to be based on one coast or another so I know they won’t be coming back. Our local NBC affiliate had spent the downtime working with their sister stations to hire pilots to fly as far as they could to gather news footage. The images are almost unimaginable scenes like out of a history channel docudrama . We watch in horror at the images from California show the coast as having moved inland as far as Arizona. On the East coast everything has also changed, the very tip of the empire state building can just be seen peeking over the waves. The East Coast has moved a couple hundred miles inland, of course New Orleans and Florida are completely submerged. Everyone seems surprised to see the Mississippi is now about 5 miles wide, a huge inland waterway which has inundated millions of homes.
And then there are the new mountain ranges. Created where the Atlantic and Pacific plates crashed into the North American plate much former flatland is now mountains. While I congratulate the TV stations for following their mandate to keep the public informed in this time of crisis, I can’t help but think how many millions of lives could have been saved if more people listened to the many warnings. Warning that came from seers that were raised hundreds of years in advance, and warnings from individuals like myself who tried to explain what was coming. Actually it is my opinion that events are unfolding as they were intended. This is a massive cathartic cleansing of our planet which will allow the survivors to work together toward a better tomorrow. As the evil gray haze turns to black it is the end of our first day of the new world order. I head back home to another night of restless sleep. more to come stay tuned….
